چکیده

Notation and Definition: We assume that examples are drawn from some distributions D over an instance space X = X1 × X2, where X1 and X2 correspond to two different “views” of examples. Let c denote the target function, and let X and X− (for simplicity we assume we are doing binary classification) denote the positive and negative regions of X , respectively . For i ∈ 1, 2, let X i = {xj ∈ Xi : ci(xj) = 1}, so we can think of X as X 1 ×X + 2 , and let X − i = Xi −X + i . Let D + and D− denote the marginal distribution of D over X and X−, respectively.

A Co-Adaptive Brain-Computer Interface for End Users with Severe Motor Impairment

Co-adaptive training paradigms for event-related desynchronization (ERD) based brain-computer interfaces (BCI) have proven effective for healthy users. As of yet, it is not clear whether co-adaptive training paradigms can also benefit users with severe motor impairment. The primary goal of our paper was to evaluate a novel cue-guided, co-adaptive BCI training paradigm with severely impaired vol...

A self-paced motor imagery based brain-computer interface for robotic wheelchair control.

This paper presents a simple self-paced motor imagery based brain-computer interface (BCI) to control a robotic wheelchair. An innovative control protocol is proposed to enable a 2-class self-paced BCI for wheelchair control, in which the user makes path planning and fully controls the wheelchair except for the automatic obstacle avoidance based on a laser range finder when necessary. In order ...

Next or Beyond Next: Effect of Contrastive Phrase-Based Treatment on Stage Gain Across Self-Paced and More Time-Constrained Tasks

This study explored the effect of contrastive phrase resynthesis instruction ongaining the teachability hypothesis stages in self-paced versus time-constrained oralproduction and recognition. Three groups (i.e., 23 learners) of high beginner femalelearners in an English language institute were randomly selected from a cohort oflearners. One group received contrastive metalinguistic instruction ...

Repetition duration influences ratings of perceived exertion.

This study investigated the effect of different repetition durations on ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) in active muscles (RPE-AM) and the overall body (RPE-O). 19 male volunteers (M age = 25.4 yr., SD = 3.5) performed strength training protocols with multiple sets matched by the number of sets and repetitions, intensity and rest interval but different repetition durations: 4 sec., 6 sec., ...

Physiological and neuromuscular responses of competitive cyclists during a simulated self-paced interval training session.

Responses of twelve competitive cyclists performing an interval training session, consisting of three successive 10-min self-paced exercise bouts separated by two 15-min active recovery periods, were studied. Power output (PO), heart rate, pedaling cadence, ventilatory variables, overall ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) and electromyographic (EMG) activity of the vastus lateralis, vastus med...

Self-Paced Walking within a Diverse Topographical Environment Elicits an Appropriate Training Stimulus for Cardiac Rehabilitation Patients

Purpose. To assess the effect of a self-paced walking intervention within a topographically varied outdoor environment on physiological and perceptual markers in cardiac rehabilitation (CR) patients. Methods. Sixteen phase II CR patients completed twelve self-paced one-mile walking sessions over a four-week period within a community-based CR programme. Walking velocity, heart rate (HR), and rat...
